Format & Rules

🏏 Jax Sportify Box Cricket Couples Tournament – INAGAURAL EDITION

Official Rules & Regulations

Team Composition

  • Each team shall consist of 6 players – No substitutes

    o 3 Male players

    o 3 Female players

  • Each match will be played as a 6-over innings. Every player will bat for 1-over (6 legitimate balls), and bowl 1-over

Tournament format

  • League - Each team will play every other team in round-robin – Total teams expected is 5 and each team will play 4 games.

  • Finals – Top 2 teams will qualify for Finals

Match Format

Overs 1 to 3 - Women’s Innings

  • The first 3 overs will be played exclusively by the Women batters.

  • Only Women bowlers from the opponent team may bowl during these overs. Every Woman player must bowl 1-over.

  • If all 3 Women batters get out before end of 3rd over, the game continues as normal game and restrictions are lifted – meaning women bowlers will end up bowling to men batters.

Over 4 to 6 - Men’s Innings

  • The remaining 3 overs will be played by the Men batters.

  • The Men in the opponent team will bowl the remaining 3 overs.

Super Over Rule (Women’s 1st Over)

  • The 1st over of the match will be a Super Over.

  • All runs scored during the Super Over will be doubled.

Example:

o 1 run = 2 runs

o 2 runs = 4 runs

o Four = 8 runs

o Six = 12 runs

·Super Over Termination

  • The Super Over ends immediately when a wicket falls.

  • Any remaining deliveries of that over will be played as normal deliveries, with no doubling of runs.

    Example:

    o If a wicket falls on the 3rd ball:

    o Balls 1–3 are part of the Super Over.

    o Balls 4–6 are normal deliveries and their runs are counted normally.

Women’s Batting & Fielding Rules:

Fielding Restrictions during Women’s Innings

  • One male player must act as the wicketkeeper.

  • The remaining two male fielders:

    o Must remain inside the designated inner field (before bowling crease)

    o Cannot field on the boundary.

    o Cannot field behind the runner/batter.

Bowling Rules

  • Every player will bowl 1-over each, with first 3-overs be bowled by women players

Women’s Bowling

  • One-Step-forward-ball-release is OK

  • The front leg can touch the front line of the bowling crease. Crossing the front line will be considered as a NO Ball

  • Lifting leg while releasing the ball is NOT considered as a NO Ball

Men’s Bowling

  • One-Step-forward-ball-release is NOT OK. Bowler needs to stay inside the crease and release the ball.

  • The front leg can touch the front line of the bowling crease. Crossing the front line will be considered as a NO Ball

  • Lifting leg while releasing the ball is considered as a NO Ball

Super Ball - Last Ball Rule (6th Over)

The last ball of the 8th over will be treated as a Super Ball – Score is doubled.

If a boundary is scored - The boundary runs will be doubled.

Example:

  • Four = 8 runs

  • Six = 12 runs

Wide ball rule:

  • 1 run penalty to the bowling team, earning 1 run to batting team

No Ball rules:

  • Full toss above waist is a no-ball, ball not counted, 2 runs penalty, and next ball is a free hit.

  • 1st bouncer over shoulder height allowed with warning to bowler (Per over)

  • 2nd bouncer over shoulder height is consider no ball - 2 runs penalty, and next is a ball free hit.

  • 2 no balls are allowed with penalty and if 3rd no ball in the same over, bowler, if Male, will then be disqualified.

  • Final decision will rest with the umpire.

Boundaries:

  • Fours: Beyond marked pillars, and below horizontal 2nd Beam line.

  • Sixes: Same as fours, except above horizontal 2nd Beam line. Woman Batters – Direct impact will be considered as a SIX

  • Fly through shots will be counted as four or six based on 1st impact point

  • Over throws to the fence can result in 4's and 6's.

  • Bowling out of mat/pitch area – No Ball.

  • No Run – if ball goes beyond wickets even if first impact before wickets.

Catches

  • Out - Direct catches, direct after re-bounce from side walls, & celling

  • Granted Runs & Not-out – Re-bounce from marked areas of back straight wall - 2s, 4s or 6s.

LBW: No LBW outs, No Leg bye.

General Rules

  • All teams must strictly follow the batting and bowling sequence described above.

  • All players must wear clean non marking shoes. players are requested to come in sportswear.

  • Any situation not covered by these rules, or any dispute arising during the match, will be decided by the tournament organizers. The organizers’ decision shall be final.
